OpenClowd vs. Superset

It treats parallel agent development as an editor workflow

Superset wraps worktrees, terminal agents, notifications, diffs, editing, setup presets, and editor handoff into one product. Its universal CLI compatibility is the right foundation, and its local experience is available now rather than a roadmap.

The product has also moved beyond the draft's category box. Superset's Pro plan advertises remote workspaces, its CLI can run a host service on remote infrastructure, and its changelog documents SDK and automation surfaces.

Source available and open source are not interchangeable

Superset publishes its source under the Elastic License 2.0. You can inspect it and the repository documents a build-from-source path. ELv2 also includes restrictions, including a limit on offering the product as a managed service.

OpenClowd's current direction is a permissive license, likely Apache 2.0, because the self-hosted product is meant to act as a neutral standard. The final license is not locked, and policy for third-party managed hosters is still open, so the comparison should stop short of promises beyond that direction.

Open code is useful. The rights attached to that code decide whether it is infrastructure you can truly build on.

Superset expands outward from the desktop; OpenClowd starts on the host

Superset's product identity remains a code editor for local worktree development, now extended with remote workspaces and automation. OpenClowd starts with a separate always-on machine and makes the web interface the primary surface for monitoring, reattaching, reviewing, and steering.

That starting point affects defaults, mobile design, trust language, and what the product considers the core loop. It does not mean Superset lacks remote compute or that OpenClowd can ignore the quality of Superset's local review experience.
